Not sure they're correct regarding the 1.0 litre being turbocharged as the quoted power output of 68bhp, is the same as the current non-turbo 1.0 litre used in the Aygo and current Yaris.

Some subtle changes to the body, I think the main selling point would be the new 1.5 engine. Either way, the new owners will have to pay the new (and stupid) road tax with their new cars.

the front end looks naff compared to my 66 icon but i do like the back end and the interior is hardly changed, are you sure this is a new model and not a face lift?

and i dont like the two tone pillars and roof either, looks like i got mine just in time

From an earlier article on Toyota UK blog, they provide hints of a high performance version and modifications to the existing range - http://blog.toyota.co.uk/high-performance-toyota-yaris-2017-geneva-motor-show - rather than a new model.

As to whether this is a short term facelift, we shall have to wait and see.

Bit of a shame that they did not go for a completely new design. Like the new Nissan Micra.

Wonder what they will cost. Just looked at the price of a new Excel Hybrid. Around £18k. Bound to cost more.

It is more like a major facelift to me. The backend looks cool though.

I think they are doing similar things with the Eastern European Aygo, just to keep the current production line running with small modifications to the exteriors and minor modification with the chassis (which can accommodate different engines anyway).

One thing is that, they are certainly promoting the new Yaris.....

Nissan needed to do something more drastic with the Micra, as the Indian built car that was sold in Europe never had the build quality of previous versions, and suffered poorer sales as a result. The Note (which will end production later this year) also eroded sales, as having two models in the same market sector never really works. The new one will be built in France at the same plant as the Clio.
