Hi,

I installed a passenger courtesy switch in my Aygo this morning. To do this I ran a wire from the driver's switch power feed around through the boot and to the switch on the driver's side. Worked a treat.

The next job is to fit a boot light but I am not sure where to take a power feed from. Would it be OK to take it from the wire I installed running from the driver's to passenger door? Or would this interfere with the operation of the passenger door switch?

Also, i intend to operate the boot light using a magnetic reed switch and a magnet stuck on the tailgate. Is it OK to remove the boot seal and place the reed switch inside it and this would be the easiest way to secure it? I don't want to create a water leak though as I have just managed to cure my leaking boot!

I look forward to your suggestions.

Thanks
Daniel

As far as I know, the wire on the switches isn't a power source. If you're installing a new light then you'll need one of the other wires from the interior light itself that carries a 12V power source. I routed my passenger switches directly to the light so I could fit in a diode, otherwise if you have your lights on with the engine off and open one of the doors you'll get the light reminder buzzer. Diode fixes that problem.
