Appalling fuel consumption in damp cold weather

Has any other owner noticed very poor fuel consumption in damp cold weather with a hybrid yesterday my average was around the  47 mark today with the very wet cold weather it's dropped to around 36,37 I have noticed this before more so when very wet  wasn't as noticeable with my Prius

Could the fuel consumption have been affected by the high winds prevalent throughout the UK today - we had gusts of up to 65mph

could be the combination of cold & also higher use of demist/aircon etc. due to damp?

Not sure if there is any merit in this but I always ensure the first start after reconnecting a Battery is done with a fully cold engine. Having started the engine then let it idle for a good 3 to 4 minutes before driving off. Do not press or dab the accelerator. Try and do mixed driving and get the engine fully up to temperature if possible.

(and when connecting the Battery, make sure the final connection is made smartly and decisively. Don't dither)
