Recently cleaned egr tho wasn't that dirty but took the top off it cleaned and greased the spring exercised the valve also cleaned a few of the sensors the turbo intake and boost.was planning to do the scv but the rain started (probably a sign lol)put new fuel filter on and a drop of 2stroke oil in and for the last few days Mpg has been brilliant. The momentary pics stayed like that for quite a few miles and dropped to 58.7mpg slight incline  then rising back up to 84mpg. The average mpg stayed the same for the 51 miles I covered home and fuel needle never moved.speed was 60mph.keeping an eye on it for a bit to see if it keeps up like this.

Hi

i think the more mild weather has a lot to play in this. Both my avensis and Auris HSD have increased this week due to this

Nice result

My mpg is still woefully crap. Last tank it was just under 38mpg despite the infamously reliable computer reading of 54mpg  The one before that just under 40mpg.

Despite your help toward the end of last year and and a thorough cleaning of the EGR to sort out those poor running issues, I think I might change the EGR - £150 from eBay for a nice new Denso one and that at least it will rule that out.

Although the car seems to be running ok, I am not entirely satisfied that it is just on a 6th sense basis. Very lumpy from cold (glow plugs?) and can feel a little off on ocassion especially whilst warming up. Not a disaster but definitely not as smooth as it should be I feel. With the mpg as it is something is still awry I reckon.

It had a full service plus fuel filter and BG244 through it recently but will keep at it and hopefully will hit the nail on the head at some point if I'm lucky

Yes its an old run around with a few issues but hey still loads cheaper than the eternal PCP roundabout.

I've been there too with the very poor mpg.the woman was always doing short town driving and mpg was 32-35.I cleaned out egr,air intake intercooler maf throttle body and put in 2 stroke mineral oil into it which I believe helps a lot but getting the ratios right I think is the important thing. I was doing around 180-200mls per full tank.the last while back I was using more around 300mls!which didn't get me as much mpg it stayed around high 40's mid 50's. Also done a purge to clean out hp and injectors too.
