Sat nav issues

My integrated sat nav has just started doing this, saying unable to read data... I've put the unused eastern Europe disc in to see if it was the disc, but it says the same. Is this a common problem or is it something more expensive?

Could be the laser not reading properly - possibly due to dirt build up.

Would I need to try one of those cleaning discs or something else?

I would try a cleaning disc to see if it helps. Hopefully that may be all it needs.

CD/DVD drives tend to have problems with age, and dirt on the lens is the most common issue. Next is the grease on the head transport for tracking, and the disc load and eject system jamming.
