Is the 1.6 going to be just the supercharged one, or will they have a normal 1.6 engine available? Infact, any info appreciated.

just read the thread - looks like 1.5.

why have they gone away form a 1.3 and why not turbo like lots of manufacturers appear to be hawking?

Thanks

There is no Yaris 1.6.

The new engine which replaces the 1.33 is a normally aspirated 1.5 - see

The Yaris GRMN will have a supercharged 1.8 litre engine - see

Presumably Toyota may be following the same path as Mazda who offer a higher capacity engine with a high compression ratio to achieve better efficiency, etc. For example the current Mazda 2 offers the 1.5 Skyactiv engine in 75, 90 and 115 bhp forms. In fact Toyota and Mazda have a collaboration in place to share power train technology - so is the new Toyota engine actually Mazda's 1.5 Skyactiv?

Supposed to be up to a 12% reduction in fuel consumption.
