Chain or belt

Grays Yaris

Hello !

I'm buying a 2013 Yaris 1.0 VVT-I and I don't know whether its has a belt or chain.

I wouldn't mind knowing the engine code and maybe any other links or information about service intervals.

Thanks.

Graham.

Hello Graham - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

The 1KR-FE engine is chain driven and fitted to the Aygo, IQ and Yaris.

Service intervals are either every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

Most Toyota dealers offer Toyota's fixed price servicing - see the following for prices and what each service includes: https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/service-and-maintenance/car-servicing.json

That's really useful. Thanks.

Are there any weak points with these cars ?

The one I'm collecting is really low mileage and very straight

The 1.0 litre seems not to have any particular weak points. May be worth using branded fuel as opposed to supermarket fuel every so often to or an additive to help prevent the EGR valve clogging.
