How To Remove The Dashboard From A 1994 Starlet?

I've already posted this in the inside and out forum, but it may be better of over here (Hey, I'm a newbie :P )...

Since a couple of weeks the light behind my temperature control handles went off evry now and then. When I slammed the dash, it went on again. I suspect it's a loose contact, or a lightbulb going lose from it's socket.

Since a day or two, the light is gone completely, and even slamming the dash won't help anymore.

Can you tell me how to remove the centre part of the dash (or the whole dash if needed), so I can refit (or replace) the lightbulb?

Thanks in Advance!

Hi Skippy,

Welcome to TOC.

Don't know enough about the Starlet to realy help you but I wouldn't have thought that you'd have to take the whole dash out just to change a bulb.

I'll save you the entire story, but in the end I found out that underneath the temperature-lever, there's a small hole in the dash. After pinching that hole with a tiny screwdriver and moving around a bit, I could take out the temperature front (after pulling the grips off the four handles).

The lightbulb itself was blown (weird that I could get it running with a bit of slammin' for a while, I always reckoned that a bulb was either blown or working, that there's no inbetween. Today I found out there actually is  )

I'm off to the garage to get a new bulb.

Thanks everyone for thinking with me!
