We have an 1.3 yaris on 116k.

I had bought it on 113 in December no noise in very good condition for a new driver.

I serviced it with genuine toyota oil 5w30

a noise has developed at low revs its an rattling sound.

I have took the aux belt off and noise still can be heard.

Any advice?

would thicker oil lubricate the chain more ie 10 40. Other than this noise the car drives ok

Most likely to be the chain IF it's the same hot and cold. If quiet when hot/or cold then it may be tappets.

The chain may be worn or the chain tensioner worn or the oil pump worn (the tensioner is driven by oil pressure).

IT is a major PIA changing the chain  .

You could change the oil - no guarantee it will work. Did you change the oil filter for a genuine Toyota one?

In my experience, cam chains rattle more when cold. One reason to be very suspicious when viewing second hand cars with warm engines!

In my experience cam chains can rattle merrily away for years with no apparent problems. How long do you intend keeping the car?

None OE oil filters often don't have non return valves - to save money. So the oil drains out when the engine is switched off and oil pressure takes a while to build up when engine starts. As the chain tensioner is oil pressure driven, you get chain rattle at start up.
