Poor Acceleration on RAV42007

I'm a using a RAV4 2007 and it can't accelerate very well. It can't do more than 3000 RPM without cracking funny sound from the engine and can't accelerate while climbing hill. To overtake car is a nightmare. You try pedaling to speed up and low acceleration creeps in. The car can't power up normal. 

I have spent a lot trying to deal with this issue. Please anyone with this experience and how do I solve it?

Hello Scot,

 

The engine is 2.4 liter and an automatic transmission.
