Hello everyone ive just bought my first toyota an 06 d4d 2 litre love tge drive and the car its in red. It has little scratches and marks etc when i got it but not much. In the month ive owned it the paint is chipping off very easily and showing black spots everywhere and also the side skirt has come away a little bit at the rear on one side and the clearcoat has started flaking around that spot.

Couple of questions. Can I sand down that clearcoat bit and respray that one section or does that whole panel need redoing?

Also as the side skirt has started to come away but 3/4 of it are still on really solid is there an adhesive i could use safely that doesnt involve me yanking the whole skirt off to do it as it is solid apart from one bit but obviously water can now get in that bit and make it worse.

Also someones managed to dent it and not leave a note so hoping i can do that with a suction cup.

I absolutely love the car I just want to get it looking good now :) hoping to stick with toyotas now as its the nicest thinf ive ever driven

Hi,

Bit concerning that the paint is peeling so easily,  have had a similar problem but thats the result of a poor respray on the plastic bumper.

Worth trying to patch the clear coat, use some 1200 wet and dry paper (wet) to key things before a couple of light coats of clear coat and give it a week or so to see how it hardens / blends in.

Not sure how the side shirt is attached, sure others will help there.

As regards sticking skirts back on, something like Silkaflex may do the trick.

I've used black silicone from Halfords to stick the roof trims back on my Auris. Not moved since.
