Hi All

How do I identify what the engine type number is on my corolla (something like 3ZZ-FE) ?

There is a sticker on the side of the engine that says E3Z-E62 but doenst look right to me.

Do I need to contact the dealers with the VIN code to get it?

Thanx

Your log book, form V5C,  has all the relevant numbers.

If yours  is  a 1.6 then it should be  a 3ZZ-FE

Are you looking for a replacement alternator ?  - try the big boys to find the model of alternator, you just need to give your reg number and they should come up with the right part  -  seems the RTX at £125 is the cheapest I can see ...

Am I right in thinking that the 90 Amp one is for Ac vehicles and 80 Amp for non AC?

I would prefer to stick with Bosch as that is the current one. I am thinking of going for a recon Bosch but need to know the model number without taking it off

Would an 90 amp alternator be a suitable replacement for an 80 amp one. Mine I believe is an 80 amp one (no AC).

For my car, different places show different amps, some 70, some 80 or 90 ..?

The Haynes manual just says Denso or Bosch alternators , no mention of Amps ??

No idea if or where the model number  / amps is printed, you could try using an inspection mirror and torch to check the underside .. not a big job to whip it off for 5 minutes.

Please see attachment for photo of what I think is a 90 Amp alternator based on the fact that it says 90 in big letters. On mine it says 80 in that position.

The number in red is exactly the same as mine. Is that the part number or is it the one in yellow.

Forgot to state that I cannot see the number in yellow on mine without taking it off.

No idea if that number is  the Toyota part number, though if you are buying from elsewhere does knowing the Toyota number matter ?

Most car part places / refurbishers know or have lookup books to state what the required part is.

Looked on mine but the the printing is a different layout with even smaller text so othere than the word Bosch , cannot read it via a mirror and torch.

If yours has no air con, little to be gained by fitting a 90A type ,unless you have some really high powered amps/speakers etc.

Are you looking to buy private  or from a proper parts dealer ?  if the latter they should know what fits what.
