Bottom ball joint

Please can anyone help with a problem i have with my Avensis Verso 2.0 D4D 2003,  i tried  changing the front wishbones as the rear bushes where gone, the originals where one piece units with the bottom ball joint fixed and not seperaetly replaceable, the new replacement units where ones with bolt on ball joints, after attaching one of the arms to the car i fitted the lower ball joint to the hub and discovered the top of the ball joint bolt pulled up through the socket and forced itself into the cv joint. i ,discovered that the tapered bolt was about 3mm thinner than on the original, i have ordered 3 different parts with the motor factors all being the wrong part, all my local motor factors state that there is only one choice for the year and model. me and my local motor factors are pulling our hair out. Any help would be much appreciated.

That's a strange one right enough - obviously something's wrong somewhere - either it's the wrong ball joint, or it's the wrong hub.

Is a genuine Toyota ball joint available?  If so then try one, or even try to get the dimensions of one.  Alternatively try the same with a genuine Toyota wishbone.  If genuine Toyota parts (checked against your chassis number) won't fit then it's got to be the wrong hub.

Alternatively you could try a ball joint from another Toyota model, but you could end up with one which fits the socket but is the wrong length etc.
