Hi All

I've joined up because I'm looking to buy an Auris for my wife as a runaround over the next few month

I was hoping you forum members could give me the benefit of your experience whilst I navigate through this process.

I'm thinking on the lines of an early 1.4 vvti or 1.33 as it's going to spend 98% of its time driving in town.

I have a first 1.4 lined up to look at a main toyota dealer (bit pricey) so here goes , what are they like in terms of reliability/ driving / cost to maintain not too bothered about fuel economy as she only does 3500 miles per annum. She's done 58k on a 2008 plate. Is the 1.4 an oil burner as I've read on here or were the problems cured by 2008.

I have see another 1.33 advertised at a local dealers son would welcome any / all feedback you could offer

Thanks

The 1.4 VVTi was carried over from the Corolla, and as far as I'm aware any oil consumption issues were fixed by mid 2005 during the Corolla's life.

The 1.33 was a new engine from late 2008, and came with a six speed gearbox and stop/start system.
