Just a couple of questions about my 2 litre d4d. The clutch seems really heavy compared to any other car ive driven. Like it feels spring loaded.  Is this normal?

Also how do you remove headlights as my passengers side ones gone and i can just about get in there but when i pull it it doesnt come out the whole assembly and unit wants to come out. The drivers side one looks even more complex.

Also whats an easy way to stick a side skirt back down without removing the whole thing. As a little bit by the back door has started to lift a little.

Typically a heavy clutch with a high up biting point means its well worn, though not having driven the diesel not sure if they are generally on the heavier side ?

How many miles has it done, has the clutch been replaced already ?

Seems very little info on removing the headlights, nothing in the usually helpful Haynes manual, have you tried  searching this forum  ?

Did find this diagram which might help ?

As for the skirt, think I did see a similar comment the other day suggesting  Silkaflex  or Silicone sealer.

The heavy clutch in the Corolla 2.0 D4D is normal - Everyone I've spoken to on here who's owned one has found the same!

It seems to be a 'feature' of the 1CD-series engines - My dad's Verso has the same engine and the clutch on that also feels like it belongs on an artic lorry!

Ooops , thought you were talking about the whole headlight unit, not just the bulb.

On my petrol model, which might have a bit more space, the drivers side is the easier, its just a case of removing the black  cover, then with the aid of a torch and mirror , view where the bulb is situtated and notice there is a wire clip that needs to be moved to one side to allow it to release and fold down, thus allowing the bulb to be removed.

One problem I found when removing the original bulbs was that the wiring connector was extemely difficult to disconnect from the bulb, just be careful not to damage things/yourself

When removing the bulb and refitting be aware of the locating pip on the bulb, which orientates it correctly, otherwise its too easy to get it in wrong place.

Best if you use a wall etc to mark the position of your beams before removing the bulbs , so you have a reference to check the new ones are in properly.

Ive got the Battery wedged up to the lights on passengee side not too bad can take that out drivers side abs is right next to it even closee up to it. (well i think its the abs system) all the spare space in the front and they put it right there. Good excuse to get people back to the dealers i suppose. I do lovr the car though super comfy and nice to drive other than the clutch if im in traffic. Hopefully as reliable as ive been told.
