Hi all

First time poster have been looking at the site since I've had my 2008 avensis D4D anyways like usual first post not a good one I will give you a little bit of history on the matter,

I went to fill up the girl got back in to start up nothing just clicking from what seemed a relay and the rev counter fluctuating so I called the AA who in the tried to jump the cargo no avail ski got towed home...

so so the next day I set about looking at it have some mechanical knowledge...well I checked the feed to the starter all ok so I checked with the missus turning the key to the start posistion 12.3 volts bingo I thought start motor so I took it off got it on the floor I thought I would bench test it and to my amazement it ran...

so so I put it all back together and thought I'd see if it runs maybe was jammed or something go to turn the key same symptoms click from relays CD player screen goes black,

so i tinkered around and went to check the earths put my power probe to the block no earth bingo again I thought earth leads checked them out all have earth

so after this I put a jump lead from the negative terminal to engine and turns the key and started up and ran after taking the lead off so I turnt it again and with no lead just clicking but soon as you put the lead between both terminal and engine it fires up? My gearbox earth is good inoticed that when I earth the engine block the relay noise goes? Everything else works I'm hoping someone may be able to help or has came across this before

Thanks
