Yaris Won't Start!

I am a new car dealer. I recently took a Yaris in part exchange the owner did not know the problem, so i only took it for £250.

The Car:

Toyota Yaris VVTI MMT 1.0 2005

It has basically a Semi-Auto transmission. (MultiMode Transmission)

It has 70,000 miles.

The Battery has already been replaced but no resolution.

The car does not start, however when i do try to start it i can hear a heavy clicking sound in the engine bay, to avoid damage i let go and soon as i hear that sound. The dash turns on with no warning lights. Plugged in a OBD2 came up with no errors. I have noticed another thing that when i press the brakes or do anything physical in the car the dash lights dim. This happens for example when i turn on indicators, roll windows down, turn on/off radio, apply the brakes, activate the wipers.

Thanks to anyone that helps.

No i already switched it and tried jumping with another car.

Maybe a bad earth then?  Dimming lights would suggest the power is being drawn away, or can't get through.

Where could the bad earth be?

Could be anywhere.  Try the end of the main Battery neg terminal first, where it attaches to the chassis.  Also check if there's another big one between the chassis and the engine.

Could you please show me a picture of what to bond, as my mechanic has the car and does not have a clue what im talking about. Thanks.

Just follow the earth strap from the Battery terminal. I think the factory had incorrectly torqued the nut. Dealer are aware of the issue.

Thanks i'll try this and let you know. Another few details about my problem is that all the dash turns off when i try turning the engine over, but when i let go off the key (goes back into position) all the dash turns on. It seems as a lack of Battery power, i replaced the Battery but still same problem, so i will try this earth way and hopefully the car will start.

I think you have a seized starter motor.

Watch this video from 0:00 to 0:13 that's how my car sounds exactly. The engine tries to turn over but it can't, and the car makes the exact noises from the video. And all dash lights are gone off. Hopefully it is just the earth wire. Have a look at the video, I know it says "Jump - Start Your Car Using A Battery From The Drill" but the car makes the exact sound mine does from 0:00 to 0:13. Please let me know if you think there could be a different problem.
