Hi guys, I just bought a 2013/14 Auris Hybrid Excel Estate at auction.

It has 79000 miles on the clock and is running perfectly

The hammer dropped at £8500 plus £700 auction fees, so £9200 in total.

Was this a good price bearing? in mind it's sold as seen.

I would say yes. If the car has all the health checks, the car is in good condition and runs as well as you said, it is a bargain.

If and when I next change my car, the Auris Sports Touring Hybrid is one of the cars I am looking at.

Personally, with current climate against diesels with all the issues, petrols and hybrids will become more sort after.

If it has full service history and the HHC has been completed every year, then it is great!

Despite the apparent image hybrids have, they hold their value well. At a year old, I could have sold my car for what I paid for it (I did get an awesome discount - and yes, I am the first registered owner - it wasn't a pre-registered car).

The hybrid has a few known images - slow, used as mini cabs, allegedly not as fuel efficient as diesels, batteries don't last long - but this is from people who have never owned or driven one, or don't know how to make the most or like to speed all the time (wasting fuel).

I have always said that the current situation with congested roads, 20 mph speed limits, traffic calming (including speed bumps) and speed cameras, makes hybrids more relevant now than ever. Add diesel pollution and that diesel cars are not suitable for town and city driving, not forgetting unreliability and higher servicing cost.

My friend has a 9 year old Prius, which bought last year as replacement to written off Avensis. He loves it. I helped him fix a wheel bearing and engine oil change. All very easy.

That is why I will look at an Auris TS in the future. Just have to live with my Avensis Tourer for now.

Sadly my budget ruled out the TS, when I was looking. They weren't old enough to get for the money I had, having said that I the non TS would be suitable for me.

The tiny boot is the only negative point against my Auris, if the Yaris hadn't the standard automatic stick, I would have swapped with mothers car.
