Modifying my Yaris

Hello!

I have been searching for a forum that I could receive opinions, tips or ideas when I modify my 2013 Toyota Yaris. It is color sand black.

A few things I have thought of doing for my car are adding vinyl wrap in and out, adding spoilers, new rims, and adding lights for effects. I will add some photos and links so  you guys can see. I have some questions though. What is it called to replace the current accelerator I have? Is it called the throttle body? I want that when I press the accelerator, it will speed up faster. Since currently right now, my yaris takes awhile to boost hence making it hard to merge into the highway. Another thing, I want to replace my exhaust/muffler/catback but I couldn't find the right parts to replace what I have right now to produce a semi-loud noise. (I live in the USA). I do not really trust eBay but I did find one in eBay but it is too expensive.

Here is the lights I want to add into my car.

I want to replace my rear drums because it is corroding. I hope this is okay and would  you guys say I need to replace the rest? Like its inside since I have a 2013 toyota. I don't know if the previous owner replaced it with a new one.

Exhaust. I was told this is perfect but too expensive. I was hoping to only spend $200.

Here is the interior look I aimed for

Mud splash-I will wrap it to make it look nicer

What do you guys think? By the way, for the wrap outside, I will add more red.

Thank you for your time!

Hi Whitney

Well that was a heavy read lol,

My first question is what engine does your car have? 1.0/1.3/15 Petrol or is it a diesel?

As knowing what engine it is can give some idea what you can do with it.

My build threads below.

Hi Whitney

AARRR its a 1.5 we don't get that engine here in the UK at the moment as Toyota have only just given us that engine in the very new Yaris which I can't afford yet lol.

So my 1.33vvti is not to far away from what you will be driving anyway.

The approach I am taking is to make my car a lot nippier in traffic and lighter over all.

So to get any good gains out of a small engine with no turbo will always be hard I should know I have 2 small engine'd Yaris's lol

I would suggest a cold air intake but an enclosed one so no extra warm air gets in,  then save up and get an full performance exhaust made to fit (cat-back) and you should be able to tell them how loud you want it "I did on my Corolla".

Light weight alloys, go round the places and pick them up and feel the weight and ask them questions about them and also light tyres as there is a lot of weight in a tyre too.

Add some coilovers as they will be lighter that the standard suspension but yes they are not cheap but worth it, but if you really cant afford them shot some lowering springs on, will give you more responsive steering.

Maybe ask round your local performance places to see if your car can be mapped, wont give much but it will be more responsive tho.

Just paint your drums if their looking abit old, saves money too.

Take all unnecessary stuff out of the car spare wheel things like that.

Hope this helps abit :)

Hey mike!! Just wondering if this would work well for my yaris. I am not sure. I wanted to add coilover in the future but my mechanic pointed out to me that becareful because this is bigger than what I have now so it may be in the way if I were to put new coilover.

Let me know!

Thanks! :D

Hi Whitney, They will be fine there only 15inc wheels so the coilovers just need to be adjusted properly, there is a guy in the USA running 17inc wheels on coilovers,

my car is the same body but in a 3dr and I'm adding 17inc alloys and dropping it another 35mm all round. I'm running tyres that are 205/45/R17 on these rims.

The only thing that could happen is if they rub you just get smaller side-walled tyres and it will be fine.

The 1.5 1NZ-FE used elsewhere is a old design last used in the UK on the MK1 Yaris T-sport dropped as it was not economically feasible to redesign the engine to meet newer EU emissions regulations, the new 1.5 2NR-FKE we in the UK/Europe have just got is a reworking of the current 1.33 1NR-FE.
