iPhone and Messaging - Toyota Touch (no Go) - How?

Hi,

I've got an iPhone SE, and I'm trying to get it to work with SMS messages, but the unit just says "Not supported".

Does the iPhone work with the head unit in this way?

It works for calls and phonebook (that's the part I really care about), but I can't get messaging to work.

If it doesn't do this, no problem, but if it can, I'd like to know what I need to do to get it working.

The few guides/bits of info I could find seem to be present already, so I'm not sure if I either missed a step, or staring futility in the face!

Thanks!

As far as I know, Toyota  decided it didn't want to play nice with Apple iPhones.

So no sms and definitely no carplay.

As far as i am aware it should work but you need to allow notifications in the bluetooth settings on the phone ( android phones ask for this permission during pairing ) on an iphone:

Power on the car > wait for the phone / car to connect > on the the phone choose > settings > bluetooth > then on the small blue i next to the pairing > toggle allow notifications to on.
