New Reg Plates

Anybody replaced their plates?

How've you put the front one on? I don't want to drill holes in my plates, so I've used the thick double sided tape stuff. Been fine on my other cars, but the Yaris is all curvy with annoying bumps on it. Any ideas?!

Ta,

Scott.

I would recommend !Removed! on your plates. It will make it a little more difficult for them to be stolen, which is becoming very common in inner city areas.

Plus the fact sticky tape type stuff can easily lose its adhesive qualities over time.

There should be preset holes in the bumper for the plates.

Yeh, might have to go with that. I'm trying to avoid it cos they're personal plates and the holes will go over a bit of one of the letters. The tape's worked fine in the past, but with the Yaris it looks like the plate will be flapping about in the wind.

The holes are over my letters as well (one anyway) but there is a white plastic screw over the white part of the plate and a black plastic screw over the letter, looks pretty good IMO

ive bought a demon tweaks chrome numberplate surround, which screws directly into the bumper, an then used industrail strength sticky tape on the plate to stick it to the chrome surround. looks mint, not ruined my plates by drilling, and cost buttons! :D

Dude use different size sticky tape. On the raised bit i used 3 strips of 1mm and on the bits which arent raised I used 10mm double sided sticky tape so that it was flat and not bending. I hav had the number plate stuck on for a year and its still there!!! So i recomend doint this if you have personalised plate as you dont want it ruined with holes!! You should be able to get double sided tape from Halfords.

i stuck my square reg on with number plate sticky pads! yeh the yaris is curvy!

right dont stick the tape to the reg first, stick it to the car:

do one layer across the top where the lip is, and put two layers of sticky pads leadin down to those two round small bumps, and put one layer over the bumps

may require two sets of sticky pads, i bought mine from halfrauds

I'm not sure about other yarii but my TS has a mounting point for the front plate that looks like a perfect fit for a square jap style plate. Anyone know if I can use one of these or is that illegal?

Ta. I'll get some thicker sticky tape for now, but I'll have a look at the chrome surrounds too.

Hmmm, now you've got me thinking though. Could I go for a Jap style plate and squeeze the letters up to fit on one line??! It's K5NNO so it wouldn't look right split up.

Go get some fixers from Halfords, and then screw them into the plate, they come in different colours, this is what I did when my Yaris met a football, little kids GRRRR!

ive got a jap style one (12 x6) and it fits the TS perfick! As i'm sure you know the TS bumpers are off the Jap Vitz RS so they already a jap sized front mount.

The bike sized ones are way too big, the yaris is too small a car for one of them!
