Engine managemnet light keeps coming on

2013 2.2 diesel estate and the Engine management light keeps coming on.  It was reset and was fine for quite a while but it went off again a week or so ago and it's back on again today - still drives fine?

Any advice would be useful before I bite the bullet for what is likely to be an expensive trip to a garage?

Hello Susan - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

Moved to the Avensis club.

As you're in the UK, your car may still be covered by the new car warranty (5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs sooner).

To pick up on what Frosty's said, you're still under the warranty period of the car. So you could bring it to your local Toyota dealer and have them investigate it. I don't think they'll charge to do that.

With the engine light on, it's the cars way of saying it thinks something is up and that you should get it checked. The dealer will plug a little box in, and the box will give the user a code, which they then look up. It's all very simple and, as I said, it's a fairly standard process so they should do it out of courtesy.

Thing is, you mention it's been cleared once before. How was it cleared? And did the person who cleared it give an error code? As you're usually given an error code before given the opportunity to clear the light.
