Window washer not working

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I am new to the Toyota forum and look forward to reading all the current and past forum posts.

I have a 2010 Avensis and the drivers side window washer packed up some 4 months ago.  Took the car in last week for its service at a independent toyota specialist and mentioned problem to him etc. On picking the car up he said he had tried everything from using pressurised air tube to trying to pin ubik the outlet and it still does not work.  He thinks it may need a new motor part?

Anyhow, can anyone else who may have had the same problem offer any advice on who to sort this?

I understand if the washers does not work its an MOT failure?

Cheers.

If there is water out of passenger jet then the pump is working, the most likely cause is a faulty 3 way valve on the bonnet ( hidden behind the soundproofing ) to check just switch the outlet pipes on the valve, if the drivers jet works then the valve is faulty ( part # 85321-28020 from Toyota ) if it doesn't then the jet is blocked ( call your dealer as there are multiple choices depending on age and angle of spray pattern to choose from )

Yes probably the valve, I had three on mine.

well you were right! Just got round to eventually sorting out the problem. Managed to get to all water pipes and found that it was the drivers side lock valve that was faulty. This is just a small T shaped piece of plastic which connects to the rubbers water hoses. Cost £15 from my local Toyota dealer.

Very happy thanks for your advice.
