Foot well lighting kit

Hi guys

I'm wanting to add footwell lights into my Auris as I think they look cool (many of you may not think so) but I want them to light up automatically when the doors are opened, which means I need to connect them to the courtesy light on the ceiling.

I will also want an over ride switch in the blanking space next to the power mode buttons.

so this add on is not unheard of by Toyota themselves.

However, I plan to fit a 3rd party led strip light under each foot well as that is a fraction of the cost to what the £200 genuine kit costs.

What I need to know is, if anyone knows if there is a tap off point or cable under the dash (preferably behind the radio for easy access) which is the courtesy light power, so the footwell lights switch on as a door is opened?

Or is there a fitting instruction for the genuine kit? Does anyone know if the genuine kit switches the footwell lights on when the door is opened?

I fitted aftermarket and have done on a few cars some to the roof light for door opening and some to a secondary source for when you switch the lights on

Are these dimmable? I'm guessing they're not?

Its not dimmable. It works when you open the doors, switch off engine or when your near if you got the smart entry and switch off when door closes, engine starts. I had in all my previous auris. It will only cost you £5 instead of 99£ for OE
