I'm reluctant to take this one to the mechanic because it could be an expensive fix.

But my cold air has stopped working.  Only noticed it since the weather changed but it could have been going on a while.  Basically, it's blowing hot air through the air vent regardless of wether it is set to hot or cold.  Are there any obvious simple solutions I could check for myself now before dropping it off at the garage??

At the moment it has to be driven with the windows open, but that's just not an option on the motor way.  On a hot day it feels like you're sitting in an oven.

It's a 2004 Corola.  A little on the old side, but otherwise going very well.

Get the air con system checked for leaks, and then look at a re-gas.

If the air con isn't used at least once a week all year round, the seals dry out and leaks can develop.

In the colder months using air con together with the heater, provides faster demisting of windows.
