Snaped wheel stud

So today I was changing front brake pads in my wife 2012 Yaris. Everything went well and when it came to puting the wheels back on the disaster happened. 2 studs snaped (1 on each side). I was tightening the nuts by hand and to be honest both studs snaped suprisingly easily. 

Has anyone ever replaced any of those studs?

Hi, I've not done a Yaris yet, but it's the same as most other cars. Reasonably easy and straight forward.

a) Remove the disc (Countersunk screw)

b) Knock out broken studs inwards (they are on splines)

c) Replace studs from inner side (align splines)

They should pull in tight when you re-fit the wheel, but check anyway.

All done now. Easy job. Paid Ł9 for 2 studs from toyota dealer. An hours job to get it replaced

Were you torquing them up and tightening them correctly in general?

That two studs failed is rather scary!

Yes I was. Not using any excessive force or anything, just tightening them with original wrench using my hands (not standing on the wrench or anything like it). Where with all the other studs I could feel the resistance at some point, with those two there was no resistance at all. They snaped suprisingly easily.
