The linkage may be common to both cars, but its the responsibility of the supplier to provide the correct part to your specifications, so first contact the supplier and ask them to confirm its the correct part for your Corolla,  and get them to confirm they will replace or refund if its the wrong part when you open and try it.

Was it  a Toyota Dealer who ordered from  your reg or vin number or an independent parts dealer ?

No it was an independent parts dealer I phoned them up this afternoon and they took my details and said I'd ordered for an Avensis online I replied I'd ordered over the phone got told to phone back Monday and they would be able to tell me then I can't say I'm happy about it one of the problems I have is I live in Orkney so getting parts for my car can be a right pain and even something cheap can be expensive to get because not everyone will send them to the islands

Well, think anyone would be  hard pressed to believe you do not know that your own car is a Corolla and not an Avensis ... !

If they supplied the wrong part, or its damaged or faulty  as received,  its their responsibility  to pay for its return and reimburse you  or supply the correct part.

See this link which details your rights, though over the phone they may just ignore you, so you may have to formally write to them (signed for).

Depending on how you paid and the cost you may get protection / help from that source.

You might find Toyotas own eBay store of use, if the parts not listed, email them and they will give you a price in a day or  so, and also give you a price for delivery  -

" Non UK mainland destinations also incur surcharges. "
