MOT advisory how urgent and how much?

Hi,

Had my MOT done earlier today - got an advisory:

"001 Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover damaged, but preventing the ingress of dirt Offside Front Upper [2.4.G.2]"

Toyota (who did the service and MOT) want nearly £200 to fix. Brand name pattern part is £30.

How urgent is it to fix it and how difficult / how long does it take. I'm quite hand with a spanner but stored energy in an anti-roll bar scares me!

Regards,

Jez

The anti-roll bar shouldn't be under tension, as long as both wheels are level at the same height.

I've changed links on other vehicles before, with the vehicle on the drive. There's little room to maneuver under there, but doable.
