i have just noticed my econ light on the dash is not lit ,when i am in 5th gear you can hear a noise from the engine like a mild tapping sound nothing major this goes when i change down or take my foot of the gas,any ideas on what to ,will it be costly ?thanks roy :) ps the car drives ok but doesnt have that kick like a turbo when the econ normaly goes out at high speed

I'm fairly new to the Avensis, I've read in the handbook about this light, but mine doesent come on at all, is it fitted to every model???? mines a 1.6gs 2000. :help:

hi there

the econ light is fitted to all pre 2000 avensis, it only takes a pot hole to knock the light out shouldnt cost much to put the wire back on? this econ light is only an indication as to how hard you press the throtle and not a turbo switch or or fuel count so nothing to worry about.

Hey Neil, you sound clued up on this econ light, I'm not too bothered about the economy of the car but I just like to have things working. You make it sound as if there is a sensor somwhere that the wire may have fell off, if so please let me know before I start taking the dash to bits to check the bulb.

i know there is something wrong by the sound of the engine i dont think its just the light bulb ,i will have it checked on wednesday and let you know what it is and the cost

had the car checked turns out to be the bulb after all that i will just live with it ,cost £10 not bad :thumbsup:

what !!!!! dont do it because of me ,live with it man .just try tapping the dash first and tell the car you love it ,you never know.ha ha

Roy..... I have screwdrivers and all sorts of tools that are crying out to be used!!

I do tell my car I love her, I tap her and do all the stuff you said, but somtimes she is stubborn (thats not spelt correct is it?). Its time for her to know whos the boss!!!!

And thats ME, untill my misses shows up of course. :lol:
