I popped out to the car and came out to this. The owner of the KA had left the handbrake off and its rolled into mine. Fortunately little damage done just a few scratches on the front. In all my years of parking on this road this is the first time its happened. I hope she doesn't catch rust from the KA. I have reversed her back as far as I can.

Did they leave the handbrake off, or, more likely, not leave it in gear?

Don't think rust is infectious.

Are you going to get the Ka owner to pay for rectifying the scratches? Possibly using a SMART repairer - ChipsAway or similar.

Rust was a joke lol. I'm not going to bother, just left them a note as the handbrake was obviously off to say that the ka had touched my car and to check their handbrake next time. Left a small stone in front of their wheel so it won't move again.

These are the small scratches (excuse the bird !Removed!) but its more trouble than its worth.

Aww, sorry to see that, Isobel.

Even a few scratches on a car that is only a couple of months old is annoying and I think that you've been extremely nice, not to have "Had Words" with the Ka owner.  Will T-Cut or a coloured wax (Halfords sell them) get rid of the scratches or have you got a special top coat paint finish on Rosie?

Good luck with getting the scratches sorted and I just hope that it doesn't happen again.

All the best.

I left them a note just to warn them about the handbrake but the black is just a polished black surface where she's got her X marking. I might look into T-cut and see if that does anything.

Try some of this, Isobel:

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/wheel-tyre-cleaning/carplan-black-trim-wax-375ml

It might get rid of the scratches/scuffs, if they are not too bad, or you could use the old school method.....Black shoe polish and a top coat of clear, car wax after it has set.

To be fair, your neighbours should really be paying for a visit from Chips Away, seeing as their Ka wanted to be "friends" with Rosie....She might have a great big "X" on the front but that's not an invitation to move in for a kiss, is it?

get a black aerosol and a fine paint brush and touch in the scratches

i sometimes use a sewing needle for touching up narrow scratches

so you dont end up with paint either side of the scratch which normally

makes the scratch look bigger.

an aerosol is normally cheaper than a touch up stick and you can spray

a small amount into the cap

Don't bother with T cut, it's awful stuff and should be banned.

Try some Meguiars Scratch X 2.0.

Put a small blob on a microfibre and use a single finger to work the product into the scratch. If its just top surface you might even remove all traces of the scratch but at worst case it will look 90% gone.

I notice your from Yorkshire, so if you don't want to buy any and your near Clitheroe (just over the boarder) , give me a shout and you can have some of mine..

You have been really nice about that. if that happened to my car they would only have 2 options..

1. Pay for the car to be fixed by my local repair / spray specialist.

2. Go through insurance.

Managed to polish out most of the scratches now so the damage is negligible.
