Auris SR180 engine issue

Hi All,

I’ve read through the engine fault thread, but this issue isn’t covered.

My wife’s 2008 Auris 2.2 has developed a fault. Driving down the motorway at anything between 60 and 80 and it can intermittently start to vibrate, like it’s going to stall and there’s no power. It does stop after a few seconds and may not happen again for a while, though it will happen a few times on longer journeys.

It’s not using oil, though it does have the occasional top up when approaching service intervals. Fuel consumption has always been rubbish, 29 ish, but it’s a lot of town driving. I know, wrong car, for the job, but it’s what she wanted. We’ve owned the car now for over 5 years.

The EGR has been cleaned but I can’t say for sure how well as she let the garage do it when it was MOT and serviced recently. They couldn’t find an issue as no fault code was present.

To me the car had a flat spot, but since they EGR has been cleaned it’s probably better. The car feels very slow to me, but that’s maybe because I have 100bhp more in mine, but my wife also says it feels slow.

Any one any ideas? Its tough to find the problem with a garage as its intermittent.

Many thanks,

Paul.

Sounds like a possible fueling problem.

Have you tried running it into a Toyota dealer?

They checked mine out (full safety check) for free so might be worth an ask.

Now ive driven it properly i does either feel like a fueling issue, the feeling you get when it's running out of fuel or it's trying to clear the dpf,  but it can't. I've not seen it clear for a while.

Have you had the fuel filter changed it could be trying to clean the DPF

Yes, changed a couple of weeks ago at the service.
