Hi All, just joined. Hope to get some help with a problem that seems to be all too common. OBD code P0627 - fuel pump, either relay our SCV's.

Does anyone have a step by step guide with photos please for (1) location, testing & replacement of the fuel pump relay. (2) ditto for the SCV's?

Brief history of the problem:

First started about 9 months ago (80,000 miles). Symptoms - intermittent reluctance to exceed 3000rpm when accelerating through the gears. Clears either during acceleration or by the next time I accelerate.

I decided to use Archoil AR6400-D MAX professional diesel fuel cleaner with instant cure of the problem for about 5,000 miles.

On return of the problem it didn't respond to Archoil treatment.

Incidentally, at this stage there were no fault codes.

Following various well intentioned advice, I cleaned the EGR valve (no improvement) and was told by a garage that my turbo vanes were sticking.

I'm back on the Archoil (now 90,000 miles) and fault code P0627 has come up pointing me to the fuel pump. It came up after I was accelerating after joining a duel carriageway. I reached the flat spot in 3rd gear and decided to keep my foot down hoping it would clear. It didn't and after about a mile the engine management light came on (it never went into limp mode though).

I've read quite a lot on this subject (including on this forum). As above I would welcome some guidance to help me decide if this is something I can tackle. Also the best place to get parts.

Finally, I saw an Aussie video that suggested turning the SCV's through 180° for good results - what do you guys think about that?
