Help With Choosing A New Sub.

Hey guys I already have a 300W RMS sub. Its very loud but I would like something even more powerful. I am going to have to buy a new amp as the amp powering the sub cuts out on some songs if the volume is loud as it is not quite powerful enough for the sub. I may use this existing amp to power two 10cm Speakers for the dash. I already hav another amp powering two 120cm door Speakers and a pair of 6x9s.

My budget is around £250 for amp and subwoofer. I want a base box for the subs and it would be nice to have two 12" subs. But I am not sure what would sound best. So please can I have some recommendations for a new amp and new sub. I dont mind what brand the amp and sub are as long as they sound nice. Cheers. B)

griffyn, just go down to a propper ICE place and say right, i have £250 and i want to get a very powerful sub(s) that will give me alot of bass, and i also want an amp which is powerrful enuff to power them - ask them what they would recommend!!

or if you dont want to be ripped off by them, say that ur gettin £250 soon and your lookin into subs and amps, and jus ask what i basically said above!

usually £30-£40 for a single box! £40-£50 for a double box, but try eBay, usually find them with £20 knocked off the above prices. But from that link uv just shown me you get the bass box

lol!! sony xplod, nice one mate

i have a sony xplod 600w amp (the black&red one) and a 10" 1100w one of those subs!!

As this is all about ICE, n what not thought I might bring something up.

Why are some Amps £300 and some £130 and yet put out the same Watts.

Like this Amp:

CRUNCH-MXB4175

http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/produc...roducts_id+2190

Its £130

2 x 700W @ 4 Ohms

4 x 350W @ 2 Ohms

Is this Amp any good?

At the moment I only have a small set up of 1 Sony Xplod 12" and a 300W Xplod Amp.

In time... I plan to upgrade to having 2 Sony Xplod 12" and ideally 1 Amp to power them both at AT LEAST 400W each.

Im only a student, so I've only got a basic setup at the moment.

Next thing is going to be getting an Alpine Head Unit, 6x9s, upgraded door Speakers and building in the 2 Sub and 1 Amp in the boot.

So what Amp would you adivse? Any brands in particular? I wouldn't want to spend more than £200 on the amp.

Thanks

Get this amp if your planning on gettin anutha one of the xplod subs crisis, the model number is:

sony XM 2165 - search in google for it.

And some cost more because of the brand. Eg, the sony xplod sub i have is 300w rms and costs £50, and theres a JBL with an RMS of 300w for £30! Its basically like clothes and beer, stella is more expensive than carling coz of its make! lol

for a whole ICE setup id recommend:

JBL 10cm Speakers in the dash

JBL 13cm Speakers in the door

Infinity 6x9 in the shelf

Sony headunit

JBL subs in the boot with an amp powerful enough for them, probs kenwood!

Yeh Im running on that Xpod 300W RMS.

Well now I know its brand, and nowt else. Thought I was missin a big piece of Spec or summat. Now I can relax.

Ya that Amp is nice that fat 1000W Sony Job

The Citroen C2 Ministry of Sound, the special one with £10,000 worth of Sound System. I saw it at the motor show, it just had like 8 or 12 Sony Xplod (12") and ran off the XM-D500X amp, thats the 1100W one.

Quite a cool system, but the Xplod Head Units look pretty ming if ya ask me.

Any idea what you could bridge the XM-D500X for a 2 way?

Wanna stick to Sony and Alpine I fink. Wanna try and get a 2 Way Amp running at 400W each way Minimum for less than £200 that aint gonna over heat or cut out. I guess when I consider that, its down to brand.

Yeh any idea of the output? Would it just 1/2 the Mono output?

2 x Sony XS-L121P5 1200W subwoofers

Crunch MXB-4175 amplifier (bridged to 2 x 700W)

Alot of the double bass deals on that site I said earlier use that Crunch Amp. Mainly cause its a 2 x 700W lol.

Also quite like the look of the sub... its big... bad and black :)

I think I know what i am going to get :D

http://www.xtreme-car-audio.co.uk/Subwoofe...ial_series.html

I am thinking of two of the PW12290 12" 1200 Watt Subwoofers on that page.

The only problem is an amp because just one of those Subs is 600W RMS. So that is 1200W RMS, which is a fair amount.

http://www.xtreme-car-audio.co.uk/Amplifie...tal_series.html

Would the PB781X 1000 Watt 2 Channel Bridgeable MOSFET Amplifier on that web page be powerful enough to run both of the subs?

Also what base box should i mount these subs in and how much would the base box cost?

Cheers for the help!!

oh dear oh dear thank god i saw this post!

JBLs are good for drone but no clarity!

everyone has their own preferences but sony are the ones to avoid and theres a few that will back me up,i would als avoid any low end kenwoods and the infinty stuff is not bad but very harsh treble!
