Hi My Electric fan for the engine seems to come on a lot on my 2015 2.0 D4D. It sometimes comes on just after starting the car when it is still cold, is this normal, then comes on and off a lot while driving? Toyota say this is normal? Thanks

I assume you have the 143hp BMW engine.

The BMW uses the cooling fans alot more and i mean a hell lot more compared to Toyota's own AD engines.

Although remember the same fans are used to cool down the A/C system, so regards the engine type it will come on when the engine is cold and stading still when A/C is on.

It's normal for the cooling fans to switch on and off continuously while the aircon is switched on. Both our Auris and Avensis do this, although you can't actually tell unless you open the bonnet as they run at a fairly slow speed so are not usually audible.
