What up guys.. I have a 96 model bubble shape corolla 160i(4afe) , about a month ago I picked up on a slight whistling sound from inside the car. Not sure where it's coming from.. Anyone know what it might be? Thanks

Do you mean its more from around the cabin area or from the engine bay, if the former then door seals are my first thought.

I'd say more from the cabin area yes. If it's the door seals like you say then it should'nt be such a big issue hey?

Is this at high speeds/rpm?

My Corolla whistles a bit but only when I'm at a high rpm.

Not really, I'd say from between 3 - 4000rpm

Deterioration of the windscreen seal, or, if the windscreen has been replaced, not enough sealant used.

Back when I had a 1996 Corolla, and had the windscreen replaced due to a stone chip/crack, I had a whistle in the cabin area at a certain speed. The dea!er diagnosed that the glass replacement company hadn't used enough sealant on the one part of the screen, and it wasn't flush. Took it back, the glass replacement company built up the sealant at the one side, and no more whistle.

Yes I did have the windscreen replaced about 10 months ago, but the whistling only started about a month ago. Is it going to get worse if I don't it fixed?

I don't think it's going to be the windscreen, just because the revs you mention is when I get my whistle too.

When you're next driving and you notice the whistle, let go of the accelerator and see if the whistle stops. If it does then it won't be the windscreen.

It does stop yes, what could it be if not the windscreen or doorseals?

If it's only at certain RPM and not certain speeds, could be gearbox or (If you have one) turbo

I haven't worked that out in mine to be honest. I think it might be to do with the vaccuum in the engine, whether a pipe is failing or something like that.

Guys I've just noticed that the whistling is permantly there, even when idling(1000-1250rpm), it's very feint but gets louder upon acceleration.
