Toyota Avensis 2,0 D-4D 124hk 2013 start problems

Hi! I just bought an Avensis 2,0 D-4D 124hk 2013. Sometimes it won't start when I turn the key. If I turn off the engine, keeps the clutch pressed in and then try to start again it sometimes doesn't start at all. It doesn't happen all the time. It seems like a clutch out/in procedure when the engine is off makes the car start again.

I don't see any pattern. Sometimes everything works ok.

Could it be a safety mechanism that falsely triggers? Maybe a clutch sensor problem or similar?

I don't see any warning lights turn on due to this. Everything looks ok. I don't see the diesel glow lamp(don't know the exact english name;)) light up either.

Presumably it will be similar to the Auris, where you need to keep the clutch fully depressed whenever you start the car.

Thanks for answers. I have had the clutch fully depressed - I think. Could be that it has slipped a bit out. Is the switching point for the sensor that far in?

Tjek that your floormat is correctly in place, if not the car wont start. The clutch pedal have to go ALL the way down.
