Dead Auris gearbox

Hi all, newbee here.

Hopefully someone here can help me and shed some light on what seems to be a common problem for people in the future.

I have just bought a 2008 Auris 1.4 D4D with a dead gearbox.  Stupidly I did a bit or research to see what the availability of these boxes was like and it seemed reasonable with lots of local (to me) ads advertising boxes for the Auris and Yaris 1.4 D4D.  Great I thought, bought the car, got it home and ripped out the box.  On closer inspection it looks like the boxes are not the same, the selector shaft assembly is different, from the outside at least.

I've opened the box up to see what sort of damage had been done and it's not good.  The diff crown wheel is chewed to bits, the gear that meshes with that is damages as if 5th.  This damage was caused by the bearings of the output shaft letting go, caused by what looks like a lack of oil.  There was no oil in the box and no sign of much on the outside of the box so I assume it's ben a slow leak that's been missed.

Now I have the problem of trying to find a gearbox that will fit and it's proving very hard indeed. I can get a Yaris one easily enough but was hoping someone with more experience could tell me would the internals fit in the Auris casing.  From the look of it Toyota have modified the seletor shaft so the cables act on the front of the box rather than the back.

Anyway, thanks for reading, any advice would be great.

Ohh, edit just to ask if any 2007 ish  Yaris owner fancies telling me their vin number I can check all the internal part numbers which would be a massive help.
