Hello everybody,

The Battery on my 2.0 D4d corolla had died and so I got another smaller Battery to start the car. anyways, when I connected the smaller Battery there was a spark and now the car doesnt even come on, all that happens is all the headlights come on?

Does anyone know what happened?

Had you connected the new Battery the wrong way round when you got the spark; a big one of a little one ?

Assume you mean the dashboard lights do not come on when you turn the ignition key ?

Have you checked all the fuses  ?  - one box  near the Battery, one box behind the glove box .

I will give the fuses a check, but how can I tell if it's blown or not ?

And on the dashboard the full beams icon comes on for some reason, and it won't turn off , apart from that , nothing else ,, and the key just doesn't turn.

The Battery was connected the correct way, but it I hadn't tightened it and so the cable went lose as the engine was running ,, and I had the bonnet up and as soon as soon as the cable went lose it hit something metal and a spark came up and the engine went dead ...

I fear the worst, I really do

This link will give you some idea of how to check the cars fuses.

They are designed to safeguard the electronics, so hopefully thats all that wrong.

Often a visual check will clearly show when a fuse is blows, but sometimes its not always obvious, and so using a test meter is required.

Sometimes you can find real cheap ones, but this seems a good local buy at a Tenner that you can buy/get in the morning

If thats not your thing, then perhaps you know someone into electrics etc who can help out,  or you might have to pay an auto electrician to come round.
