Hey all.

Has anyone tried Iridium plugs yet? Are they any good.

Also i need to replace the leads. Previous owner fitted splitfire 'Power Balls' Theyre not doing any favours. Has anyone any views on Magnicor leads over the original Toyota items?

By the way got pattern Rotor arm and Cap from Partco. Made by Blue Print cost seemed reasonable at £42 + VAT for the pair.

Still searching for that elusive fuel filter. Come out come out wherever you are. :D

Bit the bullet and ordered some 8mm magnecor leads. £48 inc next day delivery from motorsportworld. Hoping this will cure the misfire. Still not had chance to have a proper look for the fuel filter. By the way the rotor arm was totally burnt out. Real mess. Surprised it made any sort of contact at all. I guess the sparks were havin a real hard time in there.

TIP FOR DEALING WITH PARTCO... Tell them your in the trade. Extra discount. I ended up getting the cap and rotor arm for £33.83 inc VAT! Bargain. :D

Iridium and platinum plugs are slightly longer than standards ,closer to the point of the explosion hence the precious metal tips .there is no major difference really , a spark is a spark ,its all to do with a cleaner burn so aiding the lifetime of the catalytic convertor.

I`m assuming i`ve not got 1. Had a look when it was up on ramp in the workshop. Couldn`t see a tail or anything. Har de har.

But seriously. Got a full scorpion s/s system from downpipes back so i`m sure 99.9% that i`ve not got 1.

its quite possible a motor using longer plugs can cause damage to pistons crowns if the head has been skimmed at some time by clipping the plug head.if they arnt as standard id stay well clear and stick to ngk or similar.some cheap people put ordinary plugs in to avoid the cost of the platinum ones , so check it out what plugs are meant to be in .

got away with the i'm in the trade chat , guy knocked £ 9 off for me .

got cap and rotor arm for £ 40 . a big improvement too was noticed.mind you the originals had done 84,000 miles.
