Car Phone or simillar

Hello!

I recently bought a used Toyota Avensis 2.2 D-Cat and it came with what I suppose to be car phone, but I am not sure. Tried searching google for it but didn't find anything like it. Any ideas what could it be used for? If it is useless for me I would just remove it and place smartphone holder in place.

Welcome Karlis, It looks to me like a 'Bury' car kit for an older mobile, not smart phone. have a look at this on eBay. It looks like this one although yours seems to mounted in a leather? frame. You should be able to take it out without a problem but might be a couple of holes left in side trim, some tho' were clipped over trim and did not leave holes. Good luck with it.

Thank you for the answer. This one is definitely clipped over trim, I plan to remove the phone part and wiring and just using the leather part to add a smartphone mount. Also there is an indication light in my dashboard that I can't seem to find information for.

There was a discussion on the Toyota Avensis owners UK on Facebook, and the answer seemed to be the instrument illumination dimmer indicator. It is next to the control on the instrument panel.

That might be it, because really that control doesn't really do anything else than change light intensity on dash.
