Hello can someone get me a photo or explain really well of where the common rail /fuel rail sensor is located on an 06 t3 corolla d4d 2 litre.

Still can't work out where it is.  :(

I've looked at lots of stuff on Internet and the pictures I find of the d4d engines common rail is not the same as what mins looks like.  I only want the sensor on the common rail but knowing Toyota it won't be accessible.  A bit like the headlights.

Am just going on what I see in the Haynes manual, and have never worked on a diesel engine.

Seems you have to remove those injectors , pipes, then remove the whole inlet manifold to the unbolt the common rail.

Looks like there is a pipe and / or wiring going in to it at the left hand side on your photo, though suspect you will not be able to access them without removal of the whole rail.

The Haynes manula rates it 4  out of 5 for hardness.

Just found the relevant bit on that sensor, Haynes state it cannot be renewed on its own and the whole common rail must be replaced.

The only test you could do is check the sensor is being fed with the correct voltage,  proper testing of the sensor needs a Toyota dealer.

Perhaps there are ways to replace just the switch  if you are sure its faulty ?

Again the Haynes manual is only a guide to the more complex issues so you might be better looking at the Toyota Tech documents to get the precise details on your year.

eg Haynes supposed to cover to 2007 yet it does not cover the different type of throttle body I have on my 2006.

Hopefully one of the diesel members might see your post this weekend and offer some first hand info.

See on the other d4d engines in other cars the sensors plug are at the front where my coolant bottle is but on mine I cannot see the end of the rail with this thing stuck to it.

That's where I was expecting it to be.  But Its not as that engine looks a lot different.

It's not to test sensor.  I am fitting a tuning box and cannot locate it that photo above is the instructions to where it is that they sent but it's not the same car

The Haynes manual does show an engine bay picture and it looks identical to your car.

Don't forget that the Corolla was sold well after 2007 in other countries, when it was ended here in the UK,  so many pictures you see could be later models with different engine layouts.

Going back to you original pictures where I have  marked the common rail, on the left hand side there is that purple covered tube going to the common rail and thats where the sensors connector  should be.

Can't you see it down there ?

All I can see is a crimp ring on something not a sensor.  It must be way underneath to get to.  May send the tuning box back as this 5 minute installation they said is not going to be the case here.

I will take another look when I get back from work but when I looked yesterday I could only see a ring crimp.  No plug.  It's probably awkward to get too.

These are always top of my list  when working on the car /diy  , plus a good led torch.

Mirrors can be purchased locally at Halfords, Machine Mart etc
