Ring tyer pump with LED

I have a "Ring" tyre pressure pump with LED. This pump has only one small yellow button on the front next to the screen and a bigger dial which operates the LED for lighting, emergency flasher etc.

I have lost my operating instructions for this pump and am trying to find out where I could get a new set.  The current models all have three small buttons on the front and any instructions I have found on Google do not provide the information I need. have only had it for two years so am quite eager to be able to carry on using it for a while yet.

If anyone has a set of instructions and could email me a copy or, if anyone knows who makes this Ring pump and can send me the details I would be very grateful.

Cheers,

RonBin

Ring Automotive import these compressors - http://www.ringautomotive.com/uk/content/tyre-care

The model number should be somewhere on the compressor, and, having got the model number, one could use the contact page to raise a query - http://www.ringautomotive.com/uk/content/contact-us

Thank you very much for your reply. After I had sent my post, I delved deeper into Google and came up with "ringautomotive.com, on which I found their telephone number and address. I discovered I have a Ring RAC635 and had a look at their video on Facebook which showed how to operate the machine. Unfortunately, when I tried to use mine, after depressing the smaller button downwards, I got not result and no pressures were shown. The screen remained blank. Looks like I shall have to ring them tomorrow and see what they have to say, maybe have to send it back for inspection or repair. I have only had the machine for just about 2 years and used it very seldom.

Thanks again for your help and just in case you have a Ring pump and need to contact them, their telephone number is 0113 213 2000, well that's what it says on their web site.

Kind regards,

RonBin

Batteries?

Nope, runs off the 12V cigar/aux ( however, on a Toyota that means that you have to have the key turned to Acc or if you have "push to start" have pressed the button as the cigar/aux is not permanently live).

There is power going to the pump. The screen turns a greeny blue and gives a jump when I press the start button but that's about it, nothing more happens?

I just replaced an older (5-7 year? & little used but obviously out of warranty) Ring RAC pump this year. It would register the pressure & when i pressed start the compressor would start but would quickly kick off again - sounds not dissimilar to yours. As mine was out of warranty & they are cheap I bit the bullet & bought a new one.

Yes, I think you are right. I press the button, the machine makes a gurgling sound then nothing else happens. I have just phoned Ring but all their agents are busy....... Does this mean a lot of Ring pumps have problems I wonder? The answer phone offered me the option of making an e-mail request for help. I will give it a try but don't have much hope of getting an answer.

Cheers,

I have a Ring RAC640 model (see photos). Does this bear any resemblance to yours? I've included a shot of the relevant page in case it helps...

Hi Ron, I have had 2 Ring Battery boosters with in built compressors and the less they are used the more likely they are to fail I feel and one of mine I believe was the apart number you quoted in this thread. Personally I feel they are too much at the economy market and if ever I bought another booster i'd choose another make. To those of you that have a Ring booster I wish for your own sake they continue to work but I feel they need frequent total Battery discharging of the unit and recharging to keep it's internal batteries from just 'dying' rather than just leaving it plugged into a cars power point or similar to keep it charged up 24/7.

All the best to you all, Mike.

I contacted "Ring Automotive" on Monday morning and explained what had happened to my RAC635. Their Technical Support" chap told me to contact Amazon to try and get a replacement if mine was still under warranty, which it was by one day! I eventually found Amazons' Customer Service telephone number and had a very nice chat with a young Indian lady who is sending me a brand new RAC635. I have a sneaking feeling that I should have asked for the latest "Ring" model and paid the difference. Unfortunately, I don't know which is their latest model and neither did Amazon, does anyone else know? If this replacement performs the same way as the last one, I shall be on the phone to Ring Automotive with a few strong words and request the latest model.

Watch this space.....

Mike,

I never knew the RAC635 had a Battery in it. I seldom used mine and when I did, it worked for a short time and when I tried to inflate another tyre a little while later is when I had the problem. If the RAC635 does have a Battery, how does one charge it? I have a Lithium Battery for my golf trolley which I keep on charge all the time which is 12v and I can keep it on charge from the mains,  the charger has a step down transformer installed.

Hi Ron, I may of made a mistake, the part no. quoted in my head wad a heavy jump start pack with a compressor too so I may be wrong in saying that.

What I do know it 100% I have had 2 heavy in weight jump packs with inbuilt compressors, and after about a year they both died but I do stand by the cheaper end of the market bit, I am sure there are better makes. Just leaving the ones I am talking about just fries the batteries in the pack and they just die.

It's a vicious circle now, they say do not jump start someone else's car as it can easily blow ECU's etc, someone on here got the pos/neg round the wrong way and it cost him £1000's to sort out but buying a decent jump pack is hard work too.

All the best mate, Mike.

Not to worry Mike, the machine I am talking about is a tyre inflator and nothing more, all it does is flash lights if you want them on in the dark and blows up your tyres, it doesn't have any jump start capabilities. I am just waiting for delivery of a replacement and hope I have done the right thing.

Kind regards,
