T25 Auto box adjustment?

Moving from D to N has always had a distinct click as it slips into position. It now has developed an uncertain feel and now the lever between D and N feels sticky and just has no feel for being in drive or in neutral. The car is driving fine and does have drive and neutral but something is happening and I would like to check it out before doing a several hundred mile trip I need to make.

Is there a cable adjutment controlling the gear selection. It does not help that I cannot get a Haynes type workshop manual and the lastr time I tried to download a workshop manual from the net it was riddled with virus, malware, adware trojans etc ands was a nightmare to clean up the computer.

Any wise words much appreciated on this or links to a workshop manual that is thought to be clean.

To add to my original post.

The dash lights show P, N, D but then when I go from D to N the N does not light up. If I go up to reverse I get the R lit up and then N shows on the dash but not when I go from D to N. All the maual gear selections show fine ont he dash. Not sure if this clarifies the problem or not.

I need to get under the car tomorrow so any advice most welcome!

The selector is cable operated.  Pop the bonnet and look down the rhs (as you look in) at the top of the gearbox, get an assistant to move between the gear selections.  Maybe even remove the cable from the gearbox end and see if it moves freely thru the selections.

Thanks for help Alan I have now seen the PRND selector at the front of the gearbox-I was looking for it underneith! I have just given the cable top ,and gearbox selector pivot a good dose of PlusGas and it fells better already. It now has a positive click as it goes into D and N and the N light is always showing when in N. May have sorted it now I just hope the plusgas does not affect the seal at the gearbox?
