Clutch kit cost and Toyota fixed repair price

I had a quote from two Toyota dealers and the price is shocking...

Dealer 1: £1000

Dealer 2: £545

Part is for the 1.4 d4d.

Dealer 1 insist that the parts must be made of gold coating. This is the cost despite I quoted them the fixed price repair on the Toyota website.

As far as I'm aware, not all Toyota dealers participate in the Fixed Price Repair scheme.

I had a clutch go (all be it on a MK1 Yaris) but a local garage (who I know he's alright and does a good job) did it for about £320 including gearbox oil. Personally, I'm not sure going through a dealer is worth the extra you pay, but that's something everyone needs to decide for themselves

Heck....that's expensive....on my previous Celica I had the job done by my usual trusted garage and it cost a tad over £340..and that included gear box oil and new shaft seals..and it was an OEM clutch kit too, not some cheaper make.

To add salt to injury dealer 1 also quoted Clutch kit and fly wheel (in case I needed one) total £1550.

I told them if i can spend that some sort of money I will buy another class of cars. Day light robbery. Booked in Dealer 2.

Just had the work done by the dealer. All good with the clutch and gear change.

However, I noted the invoice states that the the gearbox oil is LS 85/90 Gear Oil.

Any comment with this regards on the oil? Is this the correct type?
