The first time I use the brakes after I start my car in the morning I get a rough feeling from the brake pedal.

Then the ABS light shows up and the brakes seem perfect.... anybody know what’s up?

Try to do full brake on some safe space. If pedal vibrates and wheels don`t lock then your ABS is probably ok. If it doesn`t could be a bad ABS sensor or pump.  Just to know what you are dealing with, make an OBD scan to pinpoint problem solving flowchart.

You can check to see if any ABS codes are stored, by doing the self diagnostics using the paperclip method, by linking pins 4 and 13 of the OBD socket.

Once a jumper has linked the pins, turn the key to IGN (but don't start the engine. The ABS and SRS warning lights should flash. If no codes are stored, the flashes will be constant with no breaks. If the ABS has pauses between flashes, then fault codes have been stored. The link to the PDF will show what the codes are:-

The worst ABS warning is if the ABS light is on all the timing even during self diagnostics. I had this on my old Avensis, and it was the ABS module had totally failed! I replaced it within a couple of hours with one from a breakers yard.
Any codes stored can be deleted by pressing/pumping the brake pedal a few times quickly.

First thing I would try is removing Battery for 10 mins, if it comes back on then try an OBD2 ABS reader or Konrad's post.
