car did not start no ignition or anything but all dashboard lights came on

hi all 

I am a new driver and recently bought a 56 plate yaris semi auto..it's been driving great but today it would not start.. all the lights were on.. radio came on but engine would not start and no ignition

after trying for half an hour I left it and tried again after 1 hour and it switched on first time.. a few more times I just tested it and again no problems.. I'm a little nervous as I hope it will not be  a pricey issue.. if anyone can help please do!

I'm not familiar with your particular car, but make sure the gear lever is properly in it's park or neutral position.  Also, if you need to press the brake to start it, make sure you've pressed it far enough.

hi alan333.. thanks for your reply.. I did have the brake right down to start and it was also in neutral.. but it's just worried me incase I'm out again and the same thing happens

if its anything like the manual when you have to press the clutch all the way to the floor, you will have to do the same with the brake pedal on yours. has it got a start button or just turn the key?

hey it's automatic so I just press the brake all the way down... the key was turning but no ignition... I'm worried it may be a gearbox fault?...
