Auris 2009 1.6 petrol timing chain

Please may i have advice on when the chain should be changed on my auris there are 85000 miles on the car

I'm pretty sure they're good for the car's life and don't need changed at all.

As said above, they are supposed to last as long as the car does, that's why you don't see it in the service interval checkups.

Is you timing chain noisy/rattling or was you just asking the question does it need to be changed?

The chain must be changed when chain tensioner is damaged; you can recognize this when the engine sounds like a diesel. May this never happen in your engine lifespan.

Hi Emma, I believe the chain is tensioned by a pump on the back of the tensioner. When the oil gets old and therefore thicker it doesn't work too well but frequent oil changes should cure any rattles. There are seals I am told that can leak which lets the oil out out regular oil changes should be sufficient. Mike.
