2012 Prius Key Fob Keyless Entry Remote Not Working

Hey hey, I've had my prius for about 3 years now. We only got one key, not the smart key, with it. Up until two weeks ago, it was working fine. Now it takes me five minutes to get into my car. The buttons on the remote stopped working occasionally even though the batteries are fully charged, they take minutes to unlock the door. When they don't work, I try to unlock the door by putting the key in the lock, manually. That doesn't work either. When I went to the dealership, they said they didn't know why it was happening. I don't want to get a new key since they're a bit expensive, and it does work sometimes. I at least want a way to get in the car without the buttons. But either way, I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Have you tried lubricating the lock, it may be physically sticking ?

Hi the smart locking has a known problem when using the key of being stiff becouse it is so rarely used so it is a good idea to use the key now and then (it will however set the alarm off when used ) have you checked the 12volt Battery for charge as a low 12v Battery can send up all kinds of faults.
