Which is better

a) Mini ISA

B) Stocks and Shares ISA(Capital Protected)

a)you can invest upto 3000GBP every tax year 4.75% intrest

b)you can invest upto 7000GBP (or 3000GBP if already useing Mini ISA)

cant touch money for 5years

if the market crashes you will get the capital back + 10%

right Vmail...

You asking a silly question here...

The equivalent is "Which is better, a car or a 747"

If you want a tax free savings account, get a mini-cash ISA. This returns a reasonable interest rate, which you are not taxed on, and if required, you can pull out the money at any time.

Now, the stocks and shares ISA, there is a bigger risk involved, okay the capital is protected, which means you will always get back what you put in, and there is a chance of a higher return than the cash isa

BUT, 1. Its a risk, there is no way of knowing how much, if any interest you will get.

2. Your tied into it, and you'll need to check the small print for accessing it..

There is no easy way to make money by just sitting on ya butt and hoping for it to seed.

Everything has to be calculated and as Figits said risk is involved.

Get a high paid job if you want more money - best way

or pray for a heck of a lot of luck.............

inheritance, lottery.... and tremendous luck (victoria beckham) will get you alot of money without much effort.

when you play the stocks & shares game you always take a risk.

theres only 1 type of person that makes any real money off the stockmarket... and thats the stockbroker...

For you to get a tenner from an ISA/whatever, the stockbroker would've made 10 grand....

Why not just get a nice high intrest savings account?

your taking the *mick* right vmail...

Walk into any bank/building society and say you want a savings account.. you'll be able to get a reasonable one..

Just remember the base rate is still low, so the interest will improve as the BoE increase the base rate..

Well, I know very little about money, probably why I can't hold onto mine for long but I have heard that as far as stocks and shares go, you shouldn't invest more than you are prepared to lose.

Seems sensible advice.

Well saying that guys....

My Stepmum got £10k of shares when her first husband died in 1990. When my stepmum passed away last november, her shares then totalled £1m. On top of the ones still as shares, she had cashed enough shares to own 2 houses.

Risk can make you, or it can break you, but you wont know til you take the chance.....
