Glass of Water

Has anyone else used this Toyota Touch and Go app? I have noticed that it shows the speed of the car and this is lower than the speedo - (30 is really 28mph). Proof positive that the speedo is deliberately inaccurate. A question, is the speed gps based or ecu based? Anyone without NAV able to run the app?

For vehicles sold within the EU and UK it is illegal for a spedometer reading to show less than the actual speed. Furthermore, in the UK (which differs to EU legislation), a speedometer should read no more than 110% of the actual speed, plus 6.25 mph for speeds between 30 and 70mph.

So legally speedometers have to read opimistically within certain constraints.

Sat nav speed readings (whether an app or otherwise) use GPS to calculate an average speed over a given number of points, and GPS speed readings tend to be more accurate than speedometer readings.

The glass of water app, is just a game rather than a serious tool.

But it does show 'true' mph without OBD2 connections, so can be useful for some.

I have tried it a few times and found it to be inaccurate, the same journey driven gently and the not so gently. The amount of water was the same. I based my judgement on the water loss, rather than the graph. Hence calling it a game.

I use hybrid assistant app, that is a better gauge for me.
